Andrea, our host told us that this place was worth a visit, so after a slow start (by Sams standards at least) we began the meander up to the entrance to Triglav national park, and to Vintgar gorge.
After reluctantly paying the 4 euro entrance fee, we wandered into the Gorge, with a slight excitement at what we were about to witness. But boy was it a gem that we had walked into.
The deeper we delved, the more emerald the water, and more powerful the rapids seemed to become. The pine-cladded cliffs became ever greater, more rugged and more sheer, until we found ourselves enclosed within this natural eutopia, with cascades of crystal clear water creating a mysticism unlike anything we had ever witnessed.
We meandered along water's path for what seemed an unquantifiable period of time before coming to the piece de resitance, the breathtaking waterfall as the flow of this river exits the gorge.
If there are words more powerful than beautiful and jaw-dropping, consider them applicable in this instance. What is for sure is that the experience of a place draped in such vibrant and powerful colour brings a new sense of perspective, and a new dimension to everything else.
